as the years go by, i can’t help but think that Saint Valentine doesn’t really like me. almost every year that i had the chance to celebrate valentines (read: not single) it would turn into something bad. well, not disastrously bad, but things just don’t go the way they’re supposed to.
many years ago, i had a family dinner during valentines day. so right after the dinner ended, i rushed off to see my then-girlfriend… i can’t remember where we were supposed to meet though. i drove to Bangsar to get a stalk of the usually overpriced valentines rose. after getting the flower in Jalan Telawi, i sorta sped a bit (young blood and raging hormones) to see my GF. after the now-defunct Kenny Rogers at the end of Telawi 1, i turned right and lo and behold, a car came right at me, headlights blaring at my face! i didn’t see any oncoming lights prior to turning so i assumed that the road was clear. how bloody wrong! i managed to swerve to the right and avoid a deadly head-on collision, but by doing that i banged on two cars that were parked by the road. again, because i had raging hormones and a brain that was going blank, i counter-swerved to the right while stepping on the accelerator instead of the brakes! the only thing that stopped me finally was a Range Rover. my poor old Mazda 323 got stuck to the front wheels of the RR.

whoahhh! i just realized that FLStudio 7 has been released for several weeks already! but it’ll definitely eat up more resources than its predecessors so i think i’ll pass on this one, for now.

yesterday i remarked to my missus that one the biggest changes that i’m going through right now is my attention to things at shopping complexes. before this, sights of cool gadgets (and girls, but that’s a given) would leave me drooling. a journey through Plaza Lowyat is akin to a little kid in Toys R Us.
but now, strollers catch my attention more than anything else! i often watch in envy as people push their kids in cool strollers. a particular brand that never cease to pull my eyes are Quinny ones. but upon zooming my sights onto the price-tags of these kiddy-SUVs, i realized that kids who were fortunate enough to be riding these must be conceived by the union of diamond-studded sperms and grew inside gold-plated uteruses.
if they have rides that cost a few thousand bucks when they can’t even walk, imagine what they’ll get when they’re old enough to drive!
“Dad, I just got my driving license. Can I have my Porsche now?”
i bet they won’t even say ‘thanks’ hehehhh…
see, i get envious when people have what i can’t get. such is the nature of my black heart…
yesterday, i heard kiddo’s heartbeat for the first time! i can’t wait to see what she looks like, what she’s doing in the next ultrasound.
and i hope i’m gonna get the hang of this new job too. so far it’s been good. hopefully i’ll get better at what i do.
i just started my new job last week, and so far it has been uneventful. but i have a good feeling about this job…
anyways, i have been learning how to trade FOREX (FOReign EXchange) for the past few weeks, and it does seem like a practical source of side income. however, it involves a certain amount of up-front investment just like any business. the thing is, Forex doesn’t need much initial seed. i can start with just USD1 depending on the broker. i’ve signed up for a demo account using Marketiva, and so far i made quite a healthy profit. the initial virtual money given was $10,000 and now i’m up to $11,000++.
but of course, i don’t have much hesitation when dealing with fantasy money and i don’t think twice when putting a few Ks on the line. if it were REAL money, i’d even deliberate to wager $5!
i plan to use the demo account for a few months, learn the tools of the trade, the market trends, signal indicators and economic news that affect Forex and start with a small capital. maybe after my lil’ kiddo girl greets me face-to-face in the delivery room
:D
Right now I’m reading a book called How To Develop A Perfect Memory by Dominic O’Brien. I’ve got a very weak memory, so with this book, I’m hoping to be able to keep track of my shopping lists, appointments, birthdays, directions and basically anything that utilizes our brain as a storage area.
I’ve read about 1/4 through, although I haven’t practiced all of the things that I’ve read so far. The premise of the book is basically that your memory can get better with the use of association. Meaning that you can remember things better by associating them with other more memorable things.
Exerpt from happychild.org.uk:
“As you would expect, the book covers a wide range of memory applications from remembering names, speeches and directions to numbers, cards and sporting trivia. But instead of just being a complete memory course, it is the sort of book that you can dip into to solve a particular memory challenge without having to plough through the whole book.
The basics of the O’Brien System are the use of mental journeys and the translation of numbers into memorable images. Once those concepts are mastered the foundations of a perfect memory are very much in place.
The book also makes for an interesting read. If you have ever wondered how people can win at Blackjack by card counting or how you can win good money on quiz machines Dominic’s description of his own experiences is enlightening.”
I think I’m pretty good at visualizing stuffs… so that’ll make it even easier to conjure up memorable things and commit them to memory. Theoretically of course… maybe I won’t even remember about this post in a few days’ time.
Now what was I doing again…
A few weeks ago I received a call for an interview with a local IT company. Several days later, I got an offer for the job. And thus my dillema of getting stuck here ends.
But that begs the question of whether I can reposition my bearings and change my current career path, and how I can keep up with the change in that direction.
My current company is quite a small one, and that creates a closeness and bond like that of a close-knit family. But somehow the togetherness has managed to instill a sense of complacency in myself, and I find that the longer I stay here, the less I will develop in terms of professional and personal skills. When mistakes go uncorrected and problems go unsolved, our minds lose their capacity for critical thinking.
I’ve had a few jobs that were delivered past their datelines, with less-than-perfect results and lacking in followups. I’ve also been late to the office countless times. If this was a different company, or a larger corporation, I’d definitely get the sack ages ago.
So before I report to the new company, I would definitely have to discipline myself to avoid something like that happening.
On the other hand, the mrs has her own ‘change’ in the process. And that seems to be a brighter gem in our current situation!
last 2 Sundays, i fractured 2 fingers on my left hand. I got a 3-week MC, and currently I’m half-way through.
Bloody difficult to type with only 1 hand…

me and the wife just saw the season finale of the great tv series Prison Break last night… what a bloody cliffhanger! DAMN!
and please let T-Bag remain in Season 2! as vile and evil as he is, the redneck pedo is my favorite character.
yanZ just got herself a new phone… and she can’t take her mind off the new toy hehehe!
