sing-ah-pore, and the journeys of modar in the land of the kiasu

6 July 2004 One Comment

the McChicken didn’t taste different compared to the other McDs of the world. the first Singaporean McD food to enter my mouth… can you believe it? i’ve been all over the world, but last weekend was the first time i stepped on our neighbour’s soil. but i went there not for shopping, not for clubbing, not for SPGs, not for fun. i went there with a mission. heavy, but not impossible.

on saturday morning i sat down with Yanz’s parents and popped the question myself, bypassing all the malay adat mumbo-jumbos like merisik, bagi hantaran, parents meeting parents etc. i calmly (outside, but my insides were stirring like i just drank a jug of blended chilli) told them that i wanted to marry their daughter. it wasn’t actually an official proposal, but more like asking for permission, or mintak restu. lucky me, the both of them seemed to happily grant what i was asking for. they proceeded to talk about the details of our soon-to-be marriage, like when are my parents coming over, where and when we’re gonna get enganged, etc… sorry, my weak memory fails to deliver the exact dialogues. but the bottom line is i’m gonna get married to YanZ and i’m not turning back!!!

then on sunday we went to singapore again and we went jalan-jalan at orchard road. i was so bloody jakun hahah…
