jenguk taiping
i just came back from a day trip to Taiping to see my nenek sedara who just had her leg amputated. she, like most elderly malaysian who doesn’t control their diet during their younger years, had high blood pressure, diabetes, sakit buah pinggang, etc… her right leg was cut from about 3 inches from the ankle. i arrived at the hospital just in time to see my cousin bringing the amputated leg to the kubur. it was already washed and wrapped, so i didn’t get to see it in the flesh.
it must be hard to be seperated with something that’s been a part of you for 61 years, but as my nenek sedara feels, it’s better to get rid of it rather than have the leg attached to its myriad of problems. rotten flesh, dried blood, broken arteries, exposed bone, pain. the leg has been causing so much pain for her that for a few days before the operation she’s been asking ‘bila nak gunting kaki ni?’. one thing that amazed us just now was that she could move her right leg. she suffered a stroke a while back and she hasn’t been able to move it ever since. but a few hours after the operation, she moved it back and forth. i guess the rotten leg was causing pain when moved around.
i still can’t access hostima. goddamn free hosts…
